Task 4. Imagine that you and your friend are doing a school project «Birthday celebrations». You have found some photos to illustrate it but for technical reasons you cannot send them now. Leave a voice message to your friend explaining your choice of the photos and sharing some ideas about the project. In 2.5 minutes be ready to:
- explain the choice of the illustrations for the project by briefly describing them and noting the differences;
- mention the advantages (1–2) of the two kinds of birthday celebrations;
- mention the disadvantages (1–2) of the two kinds of birthday celebrations;
- express your opinion on the subject of the project – which way of celebrating you preferred as a child and why.
You will speak for not more than 3 minutes (12–15 sentences).

Hello Dinara, I’ve found two photos for our project and I’d like to discuss them with you.
In the first picture there is a company of children having a birthday party indoors. The second picture depicts a family celebrating a birthday at home. Both photos are relevant for our project because they both show different kinds of birthday celebrations. The key difference is that in the first picture one of the kids is celebrating his or her birthday with friends while the second photo illustrates birthday celebration in the family circle.
I believe that the two kinds of birthday celebrations presented in the pictures have their advantages and disadvantages. Celebrating a birthday with friends is energising as you communicate with peers, however due to differences in interests, not all friends can be invited. As for the celebration with the family, you live memorable moments when you gather together with the whole family at the same table, but during the holiday, family conversations that are not interesting to you may come up.
Personally, as a child, I preferred to celebrate a birthday with my friends because it made the occasion feel more lively and enjoyable. Having my friends by my side meant there would be a lot of laughter, conversations, and shared happiness.
That’s all I wanted to discuss with you.
