There is no doubt that many students strive to enter university after finishing school. The aim of my project is to examine what young people in Zetland expect from higher education. I have found a table with some data on this subject. In this essay I am going to analyse my findings.
As can be seen from the table, the vast majority of the respondents (54%) hope to learn about a future job in universities, making it the most popular expectation among Zetland’s teenagers. Trying what your future job is like comes in second place with 18%. Only one out of twenty adolescents (5%) expect to improve communication skills, putting it at the bottom of the table.
The table also shows that learning about a future job is more than thrice as common as looking forward to an interesting social life (54% and 16% respectively). It is obvious that young people go to university primarily to gain a specialty and realize their career, rather than to have an entertaining social life.
One problem that may arise with studying at a university is that it can be an extremely stressful process due to various deadlines and exams, and often students feel extremely tired of constant learning. The best solution to this problem is to visit a gym regularly because it usually brings pleasure and reduces students’ anxiety.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that university education is essential for young people as it gives them valuable knowledge, experience and more career opportunities.
