Nowadays, opinions on the dress code at school differ. The aim of my project is to examine what teenagers in Zetland think about school uniform. I have found a table with some data on this issue. In this essay I am going to comment on my findings.
As can be seen from the table, 34% of the respondents wear school uniform with pleasure, making it the most common option. Wearing school uniform because it is demanded comes in second place with 27%. Considering it old-fashioned, cited by a small minority of teenage boys and girls (10%), is the least popular opinion.
The table also shows that wearing school uniform because it is demanded, which is in second position with 27%, is almost twice as popular as not caring about school uniform. This is obvious because in many schools teachers closely enforce the dress code.
One problem that can arise with wearing school uniform is the restriction of personal style and creativity. School uniform can stifle students' ability to express themselves through their clothing choices, which is an important aspect of their identity development. To address this issue, schools can consider implementing flexible uniform policies that allow for some degree of personalization within established guidelines. For instance, incorporating options such as different accessories or hairstyles.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that school uniform plays a significant role for students because it promotes a sense of unity, equality, and discipline within the school community.
